FAQS

Which Class should I take first? I have no experience.

The 2 Day Intensive Lash Extension Certification Training in Langley, BC is a the first step in getting certified to do lash extensions. In this class you will receive your certificate needed to professionally apply lash extensions safely. The next step would be to take the Volume Certification Class.

What makes Training with Blink & Brow Co. so good?

At Blink & Brow Co. we have extensive knowledge in the application of lash extensions. We were actually the FIRST lash extension academy in Canada. We have been open since 2011. Since then we have trained some of the best in the industry. Also, we actually wrote the guidelines and Beauty Safe class for lash extension certification in alliance with The Beauty Council. In this process we had a physician, an optometrist, and  Health Canada onboard to assist with accurate, up-to date knowledge. Our educators are highly knowledgeable and experienced. We have trained over 1500 people to date, (even most of our competitors ;))

Why can't I just take the Certification Training Online?

There is a big misconception that lash extension certification can be done online. The initial certification and learning to apply lash extensions needs to be done in class. As part of Health Canada regulation the following must be met:

1. In class training for a minimum of 1 day. (online or video training is unacceptable)

2. The student must demonstrate the ability to safely apply lash extension adhesive. This is because the use of any acrylate based lash adhesive is for professional use only as it can be very dangerous if not done correctly.

3. The student teacher ratio must be 1:5. One teacher to 5 students.

4. The student must demonstrate on a minimum of 1 live model, a mannequin will not do.

Having said this, after becoming certified it is completely ok in Canada to take design classes or any technique classes online once the student is certified.

How long does it take to become a lash artist after becoming certified?

Everyone learns at a different pace. Some people take a few days and others a few years. Learning lashes is not just about application but, about safety as well. Knowing when to use certain methods and when to not. Also, knowing how to handle EVERY situation takes time. At Blink & Brow Co. we have ongoing mentorship as needed at NO COST to you.

Can you do a volume class right after being certified? Why do some people include it in one class?

You can definitely take both volume lash training and classic training in one class but, in our experience we see better results when done with a gap in between. This allows for the student to master the fundamentals first. We teach the classes together only when we travel to teach however, it is not our first choice when given an option.

Can anyone become an educator? Because my neighbor just learned how to do lashes and she said she will teach me.

Absolutely! Anyone can become an educator. Infact, we have trained some of the best educators out there today! However, from an insurance stand point, an educator should have a minimum of 2 years experience. Also, ask yourself if you would like to learn to do a trade from someone who has experienced everything from the worst case to the best case or, from someone who is still growing

I heard that you do payment plans? How do I qualify?

We work with many government programs for "at risk youth" , Victims of Domestic Violence as well as First Nation & Indigenous Bands to find solutions or access existing funding for lash extension training in BC.
